I have been rummaging through my sewing room and finding vintage pieces buried deep in boxes and baffling things like plastic table mats. I am loathe to throw anything away and I love thinking of interesting ways to use things, so I pulled out a few pieces and gave myself a two day challenge.
I took a vintage lace wedding dress and one of the plastic "lace" table mats and gave myself two days to turn them into things I would wear. The wedding dress had seen better days but the sleeves were amazing button up numbers and there was an adorable peter pan collar studded with rhinestones and pearls. I decided to turn it into a cocoon jacket and used the leftover lace to fill in torn areas. The plastic "lace" table mat was cut along the edges and turned into a spill proof ruff built onto a shantung and batting base.
I have so many more boxes, I can't wait to see what I uncover and what I can do with them in two days.
